FASTags with a sufficient balance but an incomplete KYC will face deactivation or blacklisting by banks after January 31.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI),

a government-owned entity, declared on Monday that FASTags with unfinished Know Your Customer (KYC) will be deactivated or blacklisted after January 31, even if they maintain a valid balance. NHAI states this measure is aimed at enhancing and verifying the new toll collection system nationwide.

The prepaid recharge card scans the FASTag and deducts the toll charges from the vehicle owner’s linked account associated with the sticker.
